Day-wise itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Marrakech
Transfer to your riad in the medina. Evening at Jemaa el-Fnaa as the food stalls set up.

Day 2
Marrakech
Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, Majorelle Garden, and the souks — which are best entered with a guide the first time.

Day 3
Marrakech to Dades
Over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stopping at Ait Ben Haddou. Overnight in the Dades valley.

Day 4
Dades to Merzouga
Through the Todra Gorge and out to the edge of the Sahara. Camel ride into the dunes for sunset, then a desert camp.

Day 5
Merzouga to Fes
Sunrise over the dunes, then the long drive north through the Middle Atlas and its cedar forests.

Day 6
Fes
The medina on foot — nine thousand lanes, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, and the tanneries seen from a terrace above.

Day 7
Fes to Chefchaouen
North to the blue town in the Rif mountains. Afternoon simply walking it.

Day 8
Chefchaouen to Casablanca
Via Rabat if time allows. Evening at the Hassan II Mosque, which sits out over the Atlantic.

Depart Casablanca
Transfer to Mohammed V airport.
