Day 1
Arrive Srinagar
Met at Srinagar airport and driven to your houseboat or hotel. Afternoon shikara ride on Dal Lake past the floating gardens. Evening free on the boulevard.

Day 2
Srinagar — Mughal gardens
A full day across the Mughal gardens: Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi, then the Shankaracharya temple for the view back over the valley.

Day 3
Srinagar to Gulmarg
Drive up through rice terraces and willow groves to Gulmarg. Gondola to Kongdoori, with the option to continue to Apharwat. Overnight Gulmarg.

Gulmarg to Pahalgam
Cross the valley to Pahalgam on the Lidder river. Afternoon in the Betaab and Aru valleys by local taxi. Overnight Pahalgam.

Pahalgam at leisure
A slow day — walk along the Lidder, or simply sit by the river. Optional trout fishing arranged on request.

Sonmarg day trip
Return towards Srinagar via Sonmarg, the meadow of gold, with the Thajiwas glacier reachable by pony or on foot. Overnight Srinagar.

Depart Srinagar
Time for saffron, walnut wood and pashmina shopping before your transfer to the airport.

Which tourist spots near Pahalgam are closed?
Anantnag district, which includes Pahalgam, lists eight tourist destinations as closed as of 7 July 2026 — among them Baisaran, Chandanwari and Tulian Lake near Pahalgam, and Daksum and Sinthan Top elsewhere in the district. Betaab Valley and Aru Valley, both on this itinerary, are not on the list. The district revises it, so the route is planned around whatever is open on your dates.

Do you need to book Gulmarg Gondola tickets online?
Yes — book online. The Jammu & Kashmir Cable Car Corporation, which runs the Gulmarg Gondola, sells tickets on its official portal, etickets.jammukashmircablecar.com, and advises visitors to book there rather than buy from touts. You need to sign up for an account on the portal before you can buy.

Are there direct flights from Mumbai to Srinagar?
Yes — IndiGo and Air India fly non-stop from Mumbai (BOM) to Srinagar (SXR), a flight of about 2 hours 40 to 45 minutes. Timings and days of operation change with the season, so check the airline's own schedule for your dates.

Will my prepaid SIM work in Kashmir?
No — prepaid mobile connections from outside Jammu & Kashmir do not get roaming service there. The Minister of State for Communications told Parliament in August 2022 that restrictions on prepaid roaming into J&K and Ladakh would continue, and Airtel's prepaid terms, updated in August 2026, still exclude J&K from roaming. The restriction applies to prepaid connections.
