Day-wise itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Guwahati — Shillong
Drive up via the Umiam lake viewpoint. Evening in Police Bazaar.

Day 2
Cherrapunji
Mawkdok valley, Nohkalikai falls, the Arwah and Mawsmai caves, and the Seven Sisters falls.

Day 3
Dawki and Mawlynnong
Boating on the Umngot at Dawki, the India–Bangladesh border view, then Mawlynnong, kept spotless by the village itself.

Day 4
Root bridge trek
The descent to Nongriat for the double-decker root bridge — around 3,000 steps down and the same back up. A hard but memorable day.

Day 5
Shillong to Kaziranga
Long transfer into Assam. Overnight at a lodge near the park.

Day 6
Kaziranga safaris
Elephant-back safari at dawn in the western range, jeep safari in the central range in the afternoon.

Day 7
Depart Guwahati
Drive to Guwahati, with a stop at the Kamakhya temple if time allows.
