The things that matter are rarely the things on the brochure. Lifts, walking distances, and where the nearest hospital is.
Multi-generation trips are some of the most rewarding we plan and the easiest to get wrong, because the brochure describes the view and not the forty steps up to it.
Ask about lifts, always
Heritage properties, hillside resorts and Greek island hotels are frequently built across levels with no lift. A room described as having the best view is often the one furthest from the entrance. We confirm this in writing with the hotel before booking, every time.
Walking distances are real distances
The Vatican Museums to the Sistine Chapel is a long walk indoors. The Taj Mahal car park is a fair distance from the gate. Sigiriya is a climb, not a stroll. Where these matter, we plan wheelchairs, golf carts or an alternative viewpoint in advance rather than improvising on the day.
Altitude deserves respect
Ladakh, Bhutan, Nepal and parts of Sikkim sit high enough that age and existing heart or lung conditions genuinely change the risk. We build in acclimatisation days and will tell you honestly if we think a route is unwise.
Medication and documentation
Carry medicines in original packaging with the prescription, split across two bags. We include the nearest hospital to each hotel in the final travel pack, which most people never need and everyone is glad to have.
Slow the itinerary down
Whatever pace you would set for yourself, take one thing out of each day. The trip will be better for everyone, including you.
